Mastiffs in Need or Distress was founded to promote responsible Mastiff ownership by providing help and advice to Mastiff owners , and also to assist those dogs that find themselves homeless or in need of care by providing that care before finding them suitable new homes. If you are looking to provide a permanent loving home to one of our dogs please check out our rehoming page, a prehoming form is also downloadable which will give us a better idea as to which of our dogs would be most suitable to your current circumstances.
Homechecks are carried out prior to you being offered a dog, and where possible all of our dogs are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea treated and wormed prior to rehoming, a donation is required and is used directly on vets bills and food. All volunteers at Mastiffs in Need or Distress give their time for free and we are a non profit making organisation.
Please look around and feel free to sign our guest book we would love to hear from you
Please be aware that during the hot weather
your mastiff should be kept as cool as
possible . Do not allow it to lie out in the
heat for long periods . Just like humans
dogs can suffer the consequences of to
much sun and get into difficulties .If your
mastiff starts to show signs of heat stroke
this is a medical emergency and it is
advisable to seek veterinary intervention
immediately .
It is sometimes helpful to keep a batch of
wetted towels in the freezer , which can be
wrapped around the neck of the dog or
placed on its back to help keep its core
temperature stable .
