Mastiffs in Need or Distress was founded to promote responsible Mastiff ownership by providing help and advice to Mastiff owners , and also to assist those dogs that find themselves homeless or in need of care by providing that care before finding them suitable new homes.
We are a no kill sanctuary for mastiffs who find themselves unwanted for a variety of reasons .
We offer a place of safety to them ,in some cases for the rest of their lives .
We attempt to find the most suitable home for all of our mastiffs , we have a strict policy of not re homing to families with young children under the age of 11.
If you are looking to provide a permanent loving home to one of our dogs please check out our re-homing page, a pre-homing form is also downloadable which will give us a better idea as to which of our dogs would be most suitable to fit in with your family.
Homechecks are always carried out prior to you being offered a dog, and where possible all of our dogs are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea treated and wormed prior to rehoming, a donation is required and is used directly on vets bills and food. The cost of neutering a mastiff is currently between £120 -£180 depending on the sex and weight of the dog .
We will not send you to meet a dog that is still living with its owner and is completely unassessed. All of our mastiffs for re-homing are here with us.
All volunteers at Mastiffs in Need or Distress give their time for free and we are a non profit making organisation.
We are not open to the public and any visitors are strictly by prior appointment, after the successful completion of a home check.. This is usually on a weekend .
In the rare event that circumstances change we ALWAYS insist on any mastiff returning to us .
Donations are always welcomed no matter how small .
Please look around and feel free to sign our guest book we would love to hear from you
